Origin Of War

Origin Of War
2006.05.18 2:57

In general in resignation, there seem two types. One is the case in which people are already well treated but resign in seeking for better conditions. The other case is that his position is not well paid and he has to seek for another less miserable conditions.
Economy is constantly shrinking these days so it is needless to say that the latter case is overwhelmingly more. This case is a kind of Hobson's choice.
I feel scary when I thought about what there were in the end. We have more unemployed or half-unemployed than now. After all some population will be unable to feed themselves. Here arises the best way to solve this problem, that is mutual annihilation between two counterparts, people call it a war. In the end war is a final solution for population problem, food problem, and umemployment problem.
It will seem to take around several decades to reach such a stage though, I seem to have no effective measures to prevent it.

Competition for scarce resources is indeed the cause of many wars. An expanding population needs more food which requires more land which, for some time now, has meant taking it from someone else through force or deception. While it is quite reasonable to suggest that country A could purchase food or resources from country B, it is not always the case that country B is willing to sell to country A, and it is not always the case that country A wants to be reliant upon country B for their survival. When these differences are irreconcilable, we have war.

I assume war is not merely a result of conflict between two countries. But the most effective way to solve the same problem two countries happen to have had.
Recently I fell unwell. We(our representatives) have been discussing whether to implement a 'plot crime'. Any one who devises some crimes with someone will be punishable by this law. Tory has been trying to pass the law twice so far and now it's three times. They are serious. They intend to pass this bill after all important other bills passed. This time they are serious. Law Affairs Agency(governmental)and Japan's Bar Association have been struggling against one another, but sadly enough under the Diet in which Tory has overwhelming majority, they can pass almost every bill they want. Last election was being held under the single issue -whether we are in favour of the privatisation of post office. Many nationals voted in favour of it and resulted in giving an overwhelming majojority to Tory. Current prime minister is gone soon in September, this year. Only remains the Tory controlled national assembly.
World War II was one of the biggest correction in history to mend huge chasm arised between haves and have-nots. As a result of this big discharge in history, we had enjoyed 'post war democracy'. Recently we have heard the word 'gap society', means the difference between the poor and rich has been increasing. Sadly the gap has been expanding conspicuously, and some time after the process has proceeded, this process will be irreversible. The rich will be super rich, and the poor will never be able to get away from being poor. The poor will lose not only democracy but freedom of expression. They will lose their life too.

Gap Society

Gap Society
2006.05.15 2:26

I've been thinking that the advent of the Internet dominated society will bring a society of more oppotunity and equality in distribution. But more and more the gap between the poor and the rich has been widening. Why, why, why...
A few years ago a tapping law was put into effect. This law allows police to tap all the conversations spoken on the phone regardless of whether they are related to criminal act or not. Of course the police have to have a legal obligation to keep it secret. But once they judge the contents of converstion are directly related to the occurence of crime, they can use the contents of their tapping as a proof to the court. Unfortunately tapping is only possible between fixed phones. Because transmission of cell phone is cryptised, they can't tap the contents of conversation spoken between cell phones. As a result, we stopped using fixed phones.
Also a several years ago espionage prevention law was implemented. At that time people were demanding governmental documents to know whether public officials were violating a law. They say people have a right to know. But this movement was terminated by this law. The name of this law is not espionage prevention, but individual information protection law. That protects individual information, but also prevents leaking from their sanctuary, area where they have to keep secret. People can't look at the right information, let alone misconducts by public officials.
Now our diet has been focusing on whether or not to introduce a creation of a plot crime. If some people talked about a plan of some crime, they have to go to geol up to 5 years.
Where do we find a way to run away from this severe reality? The advent of gap society is coming over there, will the age of the Internet bring about another one thousand Middle Ages?

Silent Night

Silent Night
2006.05.11 2:56

It started raining heavily in the last night and in the morning still it was raining though it's not heavy. I was expecting heavy rainfall all day long. But when the workshop once a week finished at around 5 PM, we had no rainfall. I was with a woman whom we met first in this workshop. She is one year senior to me and she has been a partner in this workshop. We are supposed to know one another, so with a little conviction I asked her if we go to restaurant to have some meal. Today I was supposed to see a guy at 7:30 PM, I had some 2 free hours. We went to a famous grand hotel and went upstairs, there we had meal. We ordered Carbonara, Pizza, two glasses of Allegra and we had a good time there in one hour.
After the heavy rain everything seemed to be renewed. Silent night, as if the rain took away all noises around the area.

A Problem Of Plot Crime

A Problem Of Plot Crime
2006.05.10 2:18

We are discussing whether we ought to implement 'plot crime' in criminal code. The only problem this law has is this law will affect just an ordinary people rather than criminal people.
For criminal people they will violate this law without hesitation. They are criminal because they violate not only other law but this law too. Ordinary people start to try to respect this law as much as they can, that results in restricting the freedom of expression soon drastically.

I think what you are talking about is what we call "conspiracy" over here. That is, it is illegal to plan with other people the commission of a crime. Indeed, it can be pretty harsh over here, too.
For example, if three people conspire to rob a bank, and if one of them during the robbery shoots and kills someone, then all three can be charged and convicted of murder, because they were all part of the same conspiracy.
The reason is that if, for a slightly different example, those three people had taken a hostage and brought the hostage back to an apartment. One of them killed the hostage, but none of them will take responsibility for it. The law doesn't care that none of them takes responsibility for it because, by law, they are all responsible.
In practice, however, prosecutors typically will do what they can to identify the shooter and hold them accountable with a much higher sentence. It doesn't always work, but they certainly do try.

Different. It is different from conspiracy. If someone has been charged with conspiracy to murder, he is guilty of conspiracy even if he didn't commit murder it doesn't care. Suppose a murder was carried out actually by only one offender but if this heinous crime was plotted by more people other than the offender, those people ought to be charged with conspiracy. It is no doubt.
Plot crime is different from conspiracy. The crimes are neither carried out, nor planned, but just being talked about or discussed. Then those who just talked about committing a crime will be charged with plot crime. Even if they say they were just joking, they are punishable by plot crime. This law doesn't take into consideration whether the crime will be carried out. This law is aimed at our conversation. It's contents.

That is significantly different. So, as I understand it, if you and are talking about murder, not to be carried out but because we are writers discussing our craft, that is now a crime?
I don't think that that is right in the least. The core basis of criminal law is intent. The difference between talking about a crime and planning a crime is the intent to actually commit that crime. By that definition, they could arrest just about every writer in the country!
I don't know if Japan has the equivilent of our 1st Amendment or not, but if it does, then I think would clearly breach it.

In my mind I was muttering 'This hair is so solid as if it were antenna so that it can catch all the electronic waves from all over the world.' simply because I use herbal rinses most of the time, and only use 'real' shampoo once a week or so. the hair's natural oils protect it from weather and drying far better than any man made product, and all organic herbal rinses simply provide a method for hair to 'smell clean' as per the american trend of 'wash your hair daily'For those interested in making your own 'herbal hair rinses' I reccomend using any fruit/herb combo you find pleasing, and steep for about 10 minutes in boiling hot water. Just to note, for simplicity, i usually avoid using fruits with high sugar contents, since natural rinses tend to need to be 'rinsed in' to maintain a lasting fresh scent, however, citrus peels (orange, lemon, lime peelings) all work excellent hense the 'fruit'/herb thing ;) as far as herbs go there are so many stong herbs that make excellent rinses when fresh grown, and most can be grown indoors year round with a small fluorescent light that is left on when sunlight is insufficient. for those of you challeenged in the indoor plant growing department one can buy many dried herbs either locally or on the internet.

In our academic calendar we usually have spring break which is from 25th of March to 7th of April. So spring break is different from the Golden Week. How about the relation with Easter. In some countries early May falls latter half of Easter, but unlike Easter, the Golden Week is not originated from a religeous ceremony.
29th of April, 3rd of May, 5th of May happened to be holidays. So people started taking two or three pay-vacation between these holidays and making 7 or 8 successive holidays. This is the origin of the Golden Week. Now the 4th of May is decreed as the holiday for people so it's easier for people to take successive holidays.
So Golden Week was spontaneous, but believe me, people don't like to work such a nicest season in a year. People prefer to go hiking, orienteering, mountaineering. In this season naturally people prefer not to hide themselves behind the doors.

My colleague replied, 'Do you intend to keep on hiding your nails?' I said,' Yes, till the end of time.'

Who Owns The Beach?

Who Owns The Beach?
Beach is said to be no one's property. No one can claim property right over the beach. Therefore like a park made in nature, anyone can play there at leisure.
Three years ago adjacent to the beach, the newly built houses started appearing. One by one now there are about 15 houses being built in the area.
Two years ago fireworks and berbecue were prohibited there, because residents there feel annoyed by these acts. In a park adjacent to residential area and red light district, young people were restricted to gather there many years ago.
If such plays or activities were prohibited in a area like this, where should they hold such events?

Exploding MySpace

Hi, kayama...How are you?

MySpace is exploding, the number of my friends also expanding. You seem to already belong to one of my oldest friends. Time has passed, but I'm glad our friendship never changes.

Good & Evil -Alternative Value

In political reality, some policy that had been regared as good in previous administration often turns to be bad in the current administration. This game makes me aware that there's no absolute value in good and evil.

Hello, Allen Zadr

Nov 26 2006 8:20P Hello, Allen Zadr...
Thanks for the add. How's your life lately? Here's MySpace, not Slashdot. I'm writing both here and there. I hope to hear from you from whichever again.

Lyrics in Japanese

Still many people here don't understand English well. You came over here from America and you are wrting lyrics in Japanese.

I respect your effort and hope you can come up with an impressive song.

Ballad

It's Sunday and I was with my girlfriend. We listened to the music together. It was not difficult to understand the lyrics since we were able to follow the superimposed of Chinese ideograms.

I just wonder you are fond of ballad like this.

Lecture Japanese

You can omit the subject.

Object always comes before verbs.

Negation always comes very last part of the sentences.

Typical word order is subject, articles, time adverb clause, postposition, place adverb clause, postposition, objectives, postpositions, verbs, auxiliary verbs, negation.

Amazing Excuse

Because Deep Impact ate grass in the racehorse field where the medicine containing the prohibited drug were spread accidentally.

Amazing. What is the thing they want to keep by saying such a strange excuse? It is only their face.

Jupiter

I understand the period of Jupiter is 12 years. Some people are very susceptible to the location where the Jupiter lies. We are affected by many unseen power from the planet or alike. What is important is how to make the most of the good oppotnuity in our life.

Old Saying

Here this is the word of Hideyoshi Toyotomi (1536 -1598), when he found it unable to defeat his rival -Ieyasu Tokugawa (1543 -1616), he tried to apease him. As a result Ieyasu became one of the most powerful subordinates of Hideyoshi.
In America it might have completely another episode.
Saying is very interesting, not always but usually we can find a very similar expression in other languages.

Hair

Hair - of course here means 'under hair' was regared as indecency and those who took a picture of underhair was arrested, in Japan ten years ago.

I found wonder as to the low degree of culture in this country.

Hair is hair, wherever we found it, it doesn't matter. If underhair were indecent, other hair ought to be so, but of course they didn't.

Strange Salutation

'You are tired, aren't you' . This is a translation of Japanese salutation. Every time I encounter anyone, they say this phrase.

I am just tired of hearing this catch copy of salutation.

Old Saying

Indeed Van Houten cocoa is very tasty and unparalleled to any products here. One domestic company started affiliating to this company and made a product.

Wise.

If you cannot defeat something, try to merge it.

Fiction Ought To Describe Ideal

Very late last night I watched the movie. It was a rather strange movie though it didn't matter. What matter was the lack of morality.

Movies are fictitious world. If the good prosper and the bad extinct, I feel happy and also I want to be as virtuous as I can. But if the bad survived and the good annihilated, I won't be eager be a good person.

Of course in reality, the good does not always prevail, the bad might survive, reality is as such, based on such severity, in reality.

But in fiction I want the good to survive and the bad to be terminated. That's how fiction means something.

I am not impressed if just a reality described in movies. I lost precious time.

Innovation

Many years ago -probably some thirty years ago foreign imports were very expensive and hard to get, we used to go to the department store to get them. When I ate meat, I preferred using a Worceter sauce. Worceter sauce but made in Japan. Thirty years ago it was unbelievably bad taste. Recently I tried the sause of the same brand for the first time in thirty years with the feeling that it would be the same taste as before. But the taste changed completely. The Worceter sause made in Japan these days is very close to that of in England. This is amaging experience. The producer must have analysed the contents of produce in Worcetershire thoroughly and imitate them. I found the similar case in domestic mayonnaise. So even if the cases of making the products which are not based on a technic derived from the ancient tradition, it will surely overwhelm the original.

Superiority Of Foreign Goods

Superiority Of Foreign Goods

I choose Four Roses (American Boubon), Nescafe (Swiss coffee), Van Houten (Dutch cocoa), not any of domestic ones. 9:51 PM - 0 Comments - 0 Kudos - Add Comment - Edit

New Caste

New Caste
In Japan already one-third of workforce is occupied by non-regular workers - part-time, full-time contract, usually half a year, one year respectively. In the case of 18 to 24 year old young people, one-half of all workforce is non-regular workers. Non-regular workers don't have a bonus, usually twice in a year.
Recently the introduction of white collar exemption has been argued, this is the system white collar workers have to work till they finish their job in wage of eight hours in a day, forty hours in a week. Their extra working hours will be ignored.
New caste has been emerging in Japan's society. Part-time workers form the top of pyramid, full-time regular workers make the bottom of the caste.

One Coin

This culture prevails every nook and cranny. One or two coins are a sign of gratitude from the seller who received much more than the value of the goods they sold. This action comes out of the mind of remorse.

Oriental Hyperbole

No, I think this is called an oriental hyperbole.

The Superstition Of Numbers

The Superstition Of Numbers
2006.11.22 3:02

$3.99, $4.99...Indeed many goods are rarely sold by just $4, $5 exact. In Japan the products are usually sold 398 yen, 498 yen, etc. Eight is used instead of 9.
One supermarket was merged from America capital and they started using 399 yen, 499 yen insead of 398, 498. In Japan there's some superstition related to the figure. They don't like to use 4, 9 basically, they prefer using 8, so for them 399, 499 must have looked as if they are bad numbers. It might have affected sales, which is not sure though, they soon changed the price like 397, 497. For Japanese 7 means nothing but of course they know 7 is a lucky number in Western culture. Why they just didn't return to number 8? Probably for American CEO, 8 meant nothing while 7 means something. I think the gap between 9, 8, 7 in sales is completely ignorable.

Fake Reality

Fake Reality
2006.11.22 2:29

In TV show there have been some practices. The producer of the program deliberately makes some fake reality to entertain viewers, to raise the rate of view, etc. In some long lasting TV program, this practice was revealed and owing to that, that long lasting program was ended. The master of ceremony of this program condemed the producer saying 'That fool...' He became very popular for this program but he had to quit his role at the same time. He could have gotten another master of ceremony, because it was not he who made a false story, but he disappeared from the public scene after that. He had forgotten the popularity of the program was made by the producer's fake reality. Then he had forgotten his popularity was also built by the fake program based on the fake reality. He didn't realise that the fake reality couldn't come up with a real popularity.

Ethics & Law

Those who achieved their American dream in market might have thought that they can do whatever they want unless they violate even one law, for them a law might have been a minimum rule that they need to keep. On the other hand, ordinary people who never realised any dream usually think that they have to keep many ethical codes, which are unwritten. For them laws are just a written part of rules and regulations that humans always have to keep.

A Lost Woman

Yes, I write about a long lost person, but I've been looking for a woman I can love. She has to understand English. The reason I was unable to love her was her language- Japanese.

Hello, Vanessa

Hello, Vanessa..
Thank you for a healthy smile. It is above all of things. I hope you are going to be more famous.
