Imperfection

Imperfection

Life is an accumulation of days that never reach perfection.

Yesterday, I worked hard all day and achieved a sense of completion. Yet, near the end, I decided to tackle one more challenge since I still had an hour left before my planned stopping time.

In the end, I couldn’t finish it. What should have been a complete day ended on an incomplete note. Had I just been satisfied with where I was before, I wouldn’t have ended the day unfinished.

But does that mean I should have just spent that last hour idling away?

Absolutely not. Though the day ended in compromise, exactly what needs to be done tomorrow has now become clear.

Yes, continuing to challenge oneself might temporarily create imperfection, but it leads to progress toward a fresh, higher level.

Tonight, I go to sleep with dissatisfaction rather than contentment in my heart. Yet, it is precisely because we are incomplete that we strive for completion; nothing new is ever born from perfection.

Human greatness lies not in being perfect, but in being beautifully incomplete.
