My view is based on my subjective perspective, so it would help you understand the current economic turmoil here in Japan by referring to this , which might be written more from the objective point of view.
First of all, they -Tokyo Prosecutors are not decided yet whether to indict him. Anyway his conduct over selling of their millions of stocks to 72 companies, they have already decided to make up for all the losses caused by this transaction, besides I would add that he was a victim of already obsolete business customs found everywhere in this country. -Founder family owns almost all stocks and controls the company they founded. They are not the only ones who to blame.
Again we are not sure Tokyo Prosecutors whether to indict him, if he were indicted, it is going to be the biggest scandal ever Japan got through after the World War II. But by those two reasons I mentioned above, I would like to defend him.
