How to use the term, e.g. corporate governance
2004.10.20 22:49
Some even very educated people here in Japan use this word 'corporate governance' from the workers point of view, who actually manage the company.( e.g. members of c.e.o. managers, directers.) As far as I know, and I believe this term derives originally from the shareholders point of view. ( for example, it's important for shareholders how to govern their corporation. For them to keep the clarity and trasparency of the management of their company which they own their stocks is far and foremost important in a healthy capitalistic society.) Some people might think that there are many ways of using those technical terms like 'corporate governance' as many countries use terms according to the usages in their countries. I agree. Certainly there are American ways of using those technical terms. Europeans might use those terms differently, but they don't care... in other words there is an American way. There is an European way. There is even a Chinese way. These ways are already established in many perspectives. But when it comes to cases in Japan, our way of using many technical terms are volatile, fragile, fluctuating, easily influenced by other factors. Honestly speaking, look back at the situations in Japan, it's not at all exaggeration for us to assert there are scarce standards which take hold of universal cases. It would be very regrettable for me to say so but we've got to know we've got to learn more from American, European, Chinese standards in order to establish a fixed way of using technical terms in the first place. We Japanese are not supposed to be arrogant. I think it's( above mentioned... unique way of using the terms.) a lesson to learn. Any comments welcome...
Same kinds as the one before.
#Just from my experience
For me marriage meant nothing but legal responsibily and it was a burden. Besides it was shackles. When I was able to divorce, I felt I was completely liberated.-This is what I felt just from my past experience. I would like to write about before and after that event in the next occasion.
I wanted to get it off my chest at a time on my previous marriage and thereafter. Thank you for giving me this precious oppotunity and I hope it will help you make a right decision whatever you believe it's good. See my JE, Extra-Marital Relationship. [slashdot.org]
#Sir Leo
It was an eternal myth -why Leonardo DiCaprio was unable to win Oscars last time in Titanic, in Gang of New York. He fairly plays an excellent performance. Everybody thinks so, and so do I.
I am a man, I like Jennifer Lopez than him, so I am not particularly fond of him, although many girls here are funs of him. I like him especially he played Arthur Rimbaud in Total Eclipse, it must have been difficult for him to perform a love scene with Paul Verlaine if he were a hetero-sexual. Good actors have to play what they might think it's different from themselves. I think it's interesting to hear American's evaluation over one of actors in their country. Evaluation along with popularity differs from individuals naturally and also curiously enough -which country we live.
# Leviathan
For over 2 or 3 centuries ago, leviathan used to refer to Mobby Dick - the whale, interestingly enough, Nantucket was where the Whale-Ship Starbucks and Ishimael got in in the novel. Nantucket must be a good port for leviathans over the centuries. ..if not fifty years.
#Requirement
I like a woman who's got a distinguished forehead. That's all what I require for love.
I mean they have to have a distinguished forehead in appearance, not necessarily they are highbrows, still less I like naughty girls instead. I read your comment above, seems you succeed to establish a trusting relationship with a woman - your wife. Good. I am in my 40s now and just failed to have reliable relationship as such with any girls...so what I require of a partner is less desirable than you do. Just her physical attraction makes me happy.
# Crossed the border
I used the word 'distinguished forehead ' unintentionally by referring to a girl like *this [goldsea.com]. Although I suspected so, now I learned the word might mean a bumped forehead as a result of carefree driving. Exactly, I like a woman who's got a bumped forehead, I like that. Language is a most convenient way to communicate with each other, but if we kept away from using it, the chasm between the connotation of the words tend to enlarge rather than make smaller. I understand the language than anyone imagined. We shall not be afraid of communicating for fear we misunderstand. Seems nobody visits my JEs, always I see 0 comments queue as opposed to johndiii's 47 comments. Sometimes I visit your JE, till then take care...

#Behind the mirror
Used to be that there was a way to see all of the recent journal entries, not just your friends. Oh really? Slashdot Japan takes this way - lists of recent 50 journal entries, besides lists of top 20 slashdot writers based on how many friends they can get. And lists of top 20 writers based on how many journals they wrote. Unfortunately the number of registered writers are less than 10000, and not to mention less active.
is there a way to view a journal by number, without knowing the user's nick? When journal #100000 comes along, I'd like to be able to see it.
I used to try looking for my JE after I delete it what would have become of the number of my 'deleted' JE, but I was unable to look it up by the number in search, so I think no, we have no way yet.
#October, 2004
As is often the case with other people, I was trying to find the site which explains what ' corporate governance ' means, after the search results, where and when I could find the 'strange word' which says ' journal of von_ yosukeyan' . I was supposed to find the academic one, but instead I found a stuff that interested me a lot. Then I browsed his journal in which he masterfully explained what 'corporate governance ' is. Thus I was so impressed, then I made a account, started making a comment and writing a journal. The problem was nobody seemed to understand what I wrote. Then abruptly I noticed if there's Slashdot j.p. there must be Slashdot. USA or something. Then I searched the site. Here I was able to get many comments as opposed to the cases of j.p. site. Believe me my only problem at that site was I submitted all comments and JEs in the language now I use. It was not until I had never gotten any comments that I realised I 'd better use my domestic language when I submit a comment in j.p.site.
#Mercedes-Benz and a mercy-doer
I like Mercedes-Benz. I'd like to be a mercy-doer. Mercedo connotes a favourable atmosphere. Besides, sounds good. -Make sense?
Whenever I saw your nickname, I wondered what was it meant, now I knew well, thank you. I got curious because your signature includes the word Nietzsche. Did you read some works of Nietzsche?
Philosophy just isn't my thing. History or the sciences or classical prose or religion, yes
Oh, I see. It is not very important what we read, but what we acquired from it. Though one thing... all his works are located beyond our range of comprehension, so it's not only you who feel it hard to understand, but we can do just feel what he intended to imply, that's enough in the case of Nietzsche.
'Nietzsche is alive in our mind.' - - Mercedo
Some might say whole his writings are scribbles of his confused state of mind possibly affected by syphilis. But that does not undermine the fact that his writings influenced lots of thinkers later. Again what is important is not what he wrote, but what he intended to imply from what he wrote.
That's right. I hadn't noticed that there were such dangers. Philosophy of Nietzsche was distorted and deliberately taken advantage of by Nazis theorists.
There were absolutely no relationships between Nazism and Nietzsche philosophy. Mainly his left manuscripts were later edited in two volumes and published as 'the will to power' by his sister, at that time it was Hitler's intention to make Nietzsche's philosophy a backbone of Hitler's state thought. So the title 'the will to power' was not Nietzsche meant, but Hitler wanted to justify his initiative over all Europe, as a matter of fact, we can only see this phrase in his left manuscripts as 'all living things have the will to power' in one manuscript out of tens of hundreds of left manuscripts. So the word comes from Nietzsche but has nothing to do with Nietzsche's whole idea.
At least Hitler materialised Nihilism in Europe by real devastation, while Nietsche was trying to find a solution as to how to overcome Nihilism in Europe by peaceful and constructive way. Both positioned in opposite, not in accordance with one another.
Hitler didn't have to seek Nietsche's help to authorize his idea...It was like a tiger borrows a cat's hand . Hitler's idea was by far more dangerous than Nietsche's philosophy.
#A Season in Hell
A Season in Hell [mag4.net] Original text is here. -Une Saison en Enfer [unige.ch]
I read this prose at age 15, later this influenced me very much. I wrote some literary works at age 17 and 19 twice, published 1,350 copies and 100 copies respectively.

#Good Day!
Thank you for taking me in your topic. I really appreciate that. Since I live in Japan, I can get access to many Japan proper which might be hard for residents outside Japan, so please fell free to ask me anything if it's as easy as sending just photos to your mail account. I carry cellular phone with built-in camera, so now you can see many things through an eye in camera. I am not particulary a connoisseur for pictures, I took many photos not only cherry blossoms but things that might be regarded as one and only character outside Japan. I sometimes send you those photos especially now since I knew you are Japonephile. In 1991, once I visited Dallas, I was overwhelmed by several skyscrapers seen from the greyhound station. Besides I could see huge illuminations on the wall of those colossi. I thought it a symbol of abundant American wealth and prosperity. I've never been in America more than a decade. I'm also interested in what your backyard cherry blossoms are like. ..Anyway I send you some more photos so that you can choose favorite ones. Take care... As to cool things, I've got strong pride and hopefully no prejudice, that's the coolest thing I always bear in my mind.
I am really appreciated that. Certainly, but...I've got to learn basic language skills more, those should be read to I really appreciate that. Thank you.
#Flowers -so similar to newbies
I figured out intetesrting differences between your cherry tree and mines. Ours are in full bloom first then only after all the flowers are fallen off, new leaves start coming out. So see all the pictures I sent, first buds come out then bloom at full length, lasting after 3 or 4 days, all of the sudden all the flowers come off. So we say the life of flowers are short. I guess the duration from the buds appear and the flowers come off only counts one week at best. There is a difference in culture too. We usually start new semester in this time April. So I encounterd new students everywhere. They are new only for a week as well as the life of flowers of cherry tree. They will be a part of school soon.
#My First Ex's Belongings
About a year ago, my first ex-wife came to see her sister, who had been living in central Japan (far from here) for about 8 years. After one month of stay, she took her sister to the States. Before they left Japan, she asked me to keep their belongings in my house, which are sausepans, plates, etc., saying probably she would come to Japan to work here in last October. I still have their belongings in my closet. We were in marital relation about a decade ago, we had quarrels again and again and again, now I am alone, sometimes I miss her. I recall what she said at the time of our marriage. -'You would recall our quarrels many years later', now is the time. Now she lives in San Jose, near Cisco.
#From My Past Experience
It was not difficult. She was eager to divorce and she just handed over the paper in which she wrote her signature without filling anything out in other blanks. However, in your case, you've got kids. Your responsibility over your kids never nullify. Personally I think you don't have to divorce. It's just enough to live separately. For your kids, both of you will have been keeping on their parents however both of your legal status might be. It would be wiser for both of you to remain legal husband and wife, personally I think so.
Men have no legal, no moral responsibility, but social responsibility, if you are a man, you ought to compensate for your ex-wife. Are you willing to pay alimony for her? Or no? I suspect whichever the one who causes the direct reason of divorce -mainly debauchery, men have their social responsibility to compensate for her life. If I were you, especially she remains to be your daughtes' mother, I don't want her to live in a miserable life, regardless of whether she has already found a guy or not. I think it's cool, if you want to move on with your life succesfully.
#As If I Were
As if I were reading a letter from America I myself wrote. In fact, I am lonely, but strangely enough, I never feel melancholic. It is just normal to feel loneliness, but it is not a good thing to feel melancholy. First off, melancholy is a form of disease. I always try to think positive, and which helps me well enough to transact various things in my everyday life. Nothing is so serious, it just depends on how we take things.
#No Super Girls
You probably find another woman soon, and it is not difficult to marry some of them again. But if you sought more than two things in one woman, you would never get your ideal partner. In my case I just make it a rule to find only one function in one woman. ..if she's got a good looks, I would feel satisfied to take her to the public house in order just to have a couple of drinks with her, in our relations I never expect to sleep with her. ..If she's very dedicated to me, she's always eager to give me physical satisfaction, I just concentrate on our activities -so important to keep our daily life normal, but I don't expect to take her to the pub with me. On bed, she's a queen but in public her appearance might be meaner than other girls. I just make it a rule to satisfy with only one good point in my girl-friends. Inevitably I tend to have more than two girl friends at the same time. All girls combined can bring me to feel satisfied. That's my life in my 40's. -In my thirties, I failed to try to find an ideal woman, now I know better than to seek a 'super girl' any more.
#Alphabet
This example I introduce is not a palindrome though, it needs certain knowledge to make this sort of poem. We, Japanese have different alphabet from yours, which consists in 47 syllables. Basically our language is made up with a combination of 47 different phonetic symbols. We have also a list of alphabet. This is a poem only one alphabet is used in one time. So my suggestion is you'd try to make a poem only one alphabet is used one time in one poem. I don't believe it's impossible, just needs some perseverance.
Reference; i ro ha (means alphabet)
I ro ha ni ho he to
chi ri nu ru wo wa ka
yo ta re so tsu ne na
ra mu u wi no o ku
ya ma ke fu ko e te
a sa ki yu me mi shi
we hi mo se su
The most impressive and awesome thing in this poem is the last letters of each lines represent another meaning.
#Re:Anime != geek!!!
What's up my friend! You were the first to reply to me, at that time I was posting a comment in English at /. jp as I stated earlier, I was unable to get any replies from that site, so I decided to move to this site. Because you responded me well, I am now a slashdotter. Thank you very much indeed! -As to anime(I'm afraid my post being offtopic ), I am not accustomed to see animes since I am good at conceiving a image from descriptions, but I just always fail to accept(or refuse to accept) images already shown in animes. So unlike other ordinary country folks, I never get access to animes/ mangas at all since I was a child. When I was in America, I was amazed to find how scarece the number of animes/ mangas in bookstores, basically at that time( 18 years ago ) I thought it is owing to differences how to grasp the world between people who use ideogram and people who use phonetics. Personally I don't like to read or watch any animes and mangas, because in my opinion they so restrict our ability to imagine what they really are like. People hold different images if we were not shown real images, but unlike real images like photo, anime/ manga limit other alternatives except for the ones that shown, and I find it not so interesting. Since I was a kid, this tendency hasn't changed yet. In the wake of manga cultures many years ago, those demerits were raised frequently in knowlegeable people, but now not. Those are a matter of our preferences though how do you think about that?
