Privatisation of War

Mercenary - famous for this old and new word is French Foreign Legion, founded in 1831, no religion, no nationality, no age are required for us to be hired but our experience, technic, willing to fight, morale are questioned. But now it's Private Military Company that replaced the role of Foreign Legion. After the end of Cold War, lots of personels who were engaged in state security lost their jobs. Some of them built a private security company. In the age of war on terror, their role has been reevaluated.
Mr Sato is one of them. Born in 1961, one year senior to me, entered the parachute battalion -elitest in Japan's self defence force at age 18, spent 2 years there then entered French Foreign Legion. He served there for 21 years then last year he came to Iraq where lately he was captured.
Originally the number of American personels deployed in Iraq was 155000. For some reason or other, the number decreased to 138000. According to the sources, 40% of American troops there are from State soldiers and reservists. Apparently some of them are less equipped and trained than the Regular Army. On the other hands, modern mercenaries like him hired by a Private Military Company, are well experienced and trained, because many are from ex-military personels, they know the ropes how to deal with the current situation in Iraq. They are relatively well paid (300-500 sterling per day), and most importantly they came to Iraq at their own will. Important difference than the people who were conscripted. Costs to hire them must be higher, but comparing the risks US government owes to their nationals, it is much affordable.
Privatisation has already been in progress gradually even in the fields of war on terror.
