First of all, here I don't limit the cases in a particular gender. There are many prostitutes in both genders.
Do you really think that a significant number of people will work as prostitutes?
Yes, I think so.I have heard that prostitution is the oldest occupation. Once it were legalised, many people would start moving to this first industry humans used to be engaged in.
I think that this was not very convenient for the first rulers of the society in early civilisation around 5000 BC that the society would stay in such a barter based level for the accumulation of wealth that the rulers considered it is essential to build the civilised society.
