Epicurus was a prolific writer, yet only scarce pieces were left. It was unknown how all his writings were banished. His thought was very acceptable from today's materialistic worldview, but his thought must have been quite unacceptable from Platonic worldview and Christian worldview. Both allowed spiritual aspects, immortality of soul or eternal life. From Epicurian point of view those terms meant nothing.
Today we know Epicurus is the father of materialism. He was the first person that was able to steer clear of any fog covered above our mind.
