They seek solace or a cure..Their hearts are aching. They want to believe in "a caring" creator but they have in their own heart what they would like to "get out of the relationship." Not a "thy will be done attitude and i would be remiss if i did not say that with out that..one may never get God to listen.. my examples are the prophets...and apostles(though theystubbed their toes too) imagine... as in baseball.. the count is 0 n 2.., back to the wall(hee hee back to the dugout) and u must close ur eyes and let someone tell u when and where to swing...
Thank you for your posting for this rather difficult theme. It took two or three days to hold some notion for your comment.
One of the churchgoer I met about two years ago told me the intial motive to start coming to church was the death of her mother. She as well as her sister started attending the church with holding the hope of resurrection Bible promised in it.
The death of closed family member may bring a strange feeling.. The dead didn't exist in the visible world anymore but still exists in the heart of living people. The faith - they believe in God even if they don't see God must be playing an important role to make up for the loss of feeling they felt in the event of the death of their close family.
The motive of people whose member is fatal sick is different. They started coming to church in the hope their family member get recovered from the illness. They stopped coming because they realised it an illusion.
The reason people come to church varies in each case. But one certain thing is they come to seek for peace in mind.
